From French Marie…
I have been picking truffles in the UK since 2003, and brought them there by conditioning and developing a full ecosystem in an existing small mixed wood (125 trees) and its soil. I am French, I have lived, studied, worked and researched here for more years than I would care to mention.
In a career break, I carried out research and trained myself to
• pick truffles of top grade A quality,
• inoculate mature trees and seedlings
• understand the “full” eco system over time for appropriate site management in existing woods and combined use new plantations.
I now work with the best researcher in France for this type of fungi.
This valued fungi used to be part of the game keeper’s job to bring these to the gentry’s table up to the early XXth century in the UK. This explains the bowler hat in the logo as it bears its origins to the British game keeper. Are you ready for the challenge to bring them back? It is feasible…they are still there, unnoticed!
Who should be interested…
The land gentry and large estates are not so common in the UK. However, as a grower, picker, chef, involved in forestry development and maintenance or expensive conservation, an investor, or a community leader ….looking for environmentally friendly rural development, this should be of interest.
One tree can bring between 2-4.5kg of truffles, not all commercially viable. Price varies according to demand and fashion. Tuber Uncinatum is the most commercially expensive fungi you can pick throughout the UK.
